Wednesday

A busy day at work and I missed the gym so I am now going to head home and maybe see if my ski-jumping record is better than Victors (his is 179m in one jump).

Feeling a little off today...maybe I have a cold coming on......ahh, not just in time for the logies!!! :(

I think I have almost decided to go for the red dress...$500 (and if they still have it). If so, I must buy it tomorrow.

Miss you all!

A short option

The bag

Some nice stuff but I guess it is a recession!

The Sydney fashion show

So you can't see the fashion but don't worry it was awful and even the
models were ugly. A brand called afridithe or something. But a lovely
evening. And lainies friend got us a bag. Next post.

Monday and work

work work work.....but finished the day with a lovely dinner with Paula, and got to try some of her dresses. Here is one: it is a vintage dress, so a little different to the other.

Tomorrow it is time for Sydney Rosemount FAshion show. Lainie and I are going as MW can't make it. I am hoping to get a goodie bag!!!

Oh, almost forgot. Tried on a Mankell dress. Quite nice but don't think it makes the top list. What do you think?

Sunday Update

Today, I had lunch with my friend Pip (who I worked with at Trust Centre) and her family (Chris, Will, Jess and Owen). It was great to see her as I haven't seen her since I flew to Europe before Xmas. I got a great home cooked meal and lots of play with the kids.

Before I met with Pip I (of course) went and tried on some dresses. I quite liked these two...MW only liked the red one. The red dress is also available in other colors, like a really dark blue almost black.

The day then continued with some body pump at the gym, and then home to relax... For MW. There is no relaxing for me, dinner to be cooked and some quiche to be made for the week...but now it is an old episode of Project Runway (my fav show), a cup of green tea and a little bit of chocolate....just a little bit.

The computer (i.e MW) says NO

So, none of these either.....not that any of them were great. ok, panic mode is getting closer. Meeting with Paula after work on Monday to see if I can squeeze into one of her dresses.

Anzac day

Today it is Anzac day which stands for Australia new Zealand army
corps. It's about remembering and celebrating those that fought in the
first and second world war. A beautiful day for it...yes there is a
but!!! The shops don't open until 1pm and I'm getting into panic mode
as decided that none of the dresses so far is a keeper.

At 3.30 it is time to pump muscles in a body pump class.

long dress

found out today that the logies is all about a long dress. I knew that is what the celebrities wore, but so does everyone else. So, I now need to find a long dress.

Apart from that...work is not as exciting as it could be but I am continuing to read my mantra that Georgina taught me "smile, take the cheque, bank the cheque".

I do have some fun news, Marre is engaged!!! Congratulations. I can't wait to see the ring and hear about all the romance that happened during the weekend away...minus some of it. :)

Missed the yoga class yesterday as I worked late, and couldn't go tonight or tomorrow. So, Thursday is locked in for some Body Pump at 17.30. And then the weekend must be gymming as well, there is only 12 days to go. I think a diet is in place!

Smart thoughts

Had some spare time and got to think about those things that you think about when you have the time. "Why don't I thin about anything smart and intelligent anymore?" Most of what I think about is
"what we are having for dinner",
"what I am wearing",
"are my tights really that big?", and
"what is on tv tonight" (mixed with "maybe I should play some wii").

What happen to all the smart thoughts and fabulous goals? OK, some of you may say that the thought were never so intelligent...there has been a lot of boys, clothes and make-up, but in between that I think I cared about companies, strategies, solving world hunger and getting all of the world a better place.

Do the rest of the world think about smart things? Or are we all turning into boring normal day zombies?

the BIG News

We are going to the Logies in Melbourne. This is the big TV show awards in Australia. Kind of like the Golden Globe in America....but yet not as glamorous. However, we get to go on the red carpet.....I guess there won't be as many cameras going at that point.

My big mission is to find a dress to wear, and without spending lots and lots of money. If anyone knows of a good store, then please let me know.

I'll show photos of a couple of options and then we can vote to see which one is best.

And for those that thought that I was pregnant...sorry, you will have to wait a little longer. Not time for that just yet.

I think they left the UK weather with us

After many many hours of sleep, probably due to afternoon drinking yesterday, we have just left Laneway after a lovely breakfast and it is back to rain, rain and rain. Today will be a day of chores..how boring!! And gym to try and work off these weeks of eating and drinking. It is time to get fit for...... will tell you soon. This one is BIG.

My mum

I forgot to tell you that it is my mum;s birthday today. She is the most fantastic mum and today it is her special day. If I was in Sweden I would take her out for a lovely meal...maybe "restaurangen" or some other nice place. A couple of glasses of wine and lots of talking. As soon as the home phone is charged I will try and call her. Love you mum! Miss you so much.

The fab lights from firefly

From the tapas & wine bar firefly

It's been a long day

Got in at 8.15am and it is now 19:43.....I am going home now. Well, not home but out for dinner at a tapas bar in Neutral bay. Taxi time!!!

Wii bowling

Wiiiiiiii, so much fun

Did I tell you that I got a Wii. It was suppose to be a 8 week present to myself but I got it almost 2 weeks early. I love the Wii. It is so much fun, even if the Wii-fit has troubles deciding if I am older or younger than my real age...The guys are competing in Tennis, Golf, Bowling and all the other sports, but they are a little bit chicken when it comes to the Wii Fit. I think it is thought of going on a scale that scares them.

The fascinator - version 1

The last episode

I got home today after a body pump class in the city. On the TV was the last episode of Sex and the City. The one where Big goes to Paris to get Carrie back to NY. Also the one where Miranda gives her mother in law a bath..yeah, that is weird.

Today at lunch time I went to Lincraft to get some stuff for a fascinator. Oh, all the people and the queues, and the slow slow very slow people working there. Got some stuff and as I was watching the SATC episode I constructed a fascinator. Will upload a photo...but I thin I will need to try again.

The fascinator (really not sure how to spell the work) is for Saturday when we are going to races here in Sydney.

Work work work

Hmm, what a work day. All I have done today is worked.

Now it is time to head home to a homey dinner (Spag Bol) that Aine and Gav will have cooked for us.

I think I will start doing "today's outfit" on this blog. That may make it more fun, even if there will be a lot of repeat outfits.

Something to think about: Is it worth staying late in the office when it kind of looks the same the next day anyway???

Gym and breakfast

After a body pump class with the rest of northen beaches at the Fitness First gym in St Leonards we headed down to Balmoral beach for some breakfast. Even if the sun isn't out it is 25 degrees and lovely.

Now boring house stuff.

And outside of Sydney

Orange and wine

This long weekend we went to Orange to visit friends and try some wine. Orange is about 3,5 hours drive from Sydney....so after 5 hours we finally go there...Easter traffic! A lovely little B&B called Cothele. One of those old houses, over a 100 years (yep, they do think that is remarkable old).

The first evening we went for dinner at our friends Vineyard called Indigo Ridge. They have the best wines and we got a fantastic dinner to go with the wine.

The next day we visited a few other vineyards and finished off the day with dinner at one of the 1 hat restaurants in Orange. Fantastic food, I had the souffle followed by the duck. With this I had a sauvignon blanc and a cabernet merlot. I also discovered that many in this town are large...a lot of large families. Hm, maybe wine does make you put on weight like my mum has told me over the years.

On the way back to Sydney we stopped in Katoomba and had some lunch and had a look at the blue montains. Beautiful nature, and too many tourists. Back in the car to drive back to Sydney and of course got stuck in traffic...

I feel old to say it, but it is nice to be back home again.

Life in Sydney

So, I finally decided to do it: Start a blog about my life in Sydney. The blog will be about being a swedette in Sydney; what I do, what other people do, things that happen here, things that happen back in Sweden and just random thoughts that I get.

I hope it will be interesting!

take care.
